This government-approved child protection training course is essential for educators, childcare workers, healthcare professionals, and community service workers who have a duty of care to children and young people. It meets mandatory child protection training requirements under relevant state and territory legislation and protocols. The course builds knowledge and awareness of child protection responsibilities, helping participants to: - Recognise signs of abuse and neglect, including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, neglect, domestic and family violence, and child-on-child abuse. - Respond appropriately and support children and young people who may be at risk. - Apply child protection principles in the context of age, gender, disability, culture, and sexuality. Participants will also gain an understanding of the legal and ethical frameworks that underpin child protection, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, relevant legislation, duty of care, and ethical responsibilities. Upon completion of CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk, participants will be equipped to identify, respond to, and report concerns, fulfilling their legal and ethical obligations to protect children and young people. Course Delivery

This course is delivered fully online.

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

1. As a registered training organisation (RTO), delivering nationally recognised training, we must verify a student's identity before undertaking the assessment. To meet this requirement, you will be required to show your photo identification to the camera and state your full name, as listed on your identification document.

2. Must meet English and LLN requirements. The Training Package clearly states:

• Learning: Can learn by reflecting on real-life situations, asking questions, and applying what I know to new cases
• Reading: Can read and understand policies, signs of harm, and reporting procedures
• Writing: Can write clear, factual notes or reports about what I’ve seen or heard
• Oral communication: Can talk respectfully about sensitive issues and explain what I’ve noticed
• Numeracy: Can understand timelines, ages, or data shown in documents like forms or reports

• Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
  
  

3. Students must have access to a device with camera and audio recording capabilities, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. This device will be necessary for creating short videos as part of the assessment, in which students verbally explain the required assessment outcomes.

* This course includes material about child abuse, neglect, and violence, which some users may find distressing. Topics include emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as domestic and family violence. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, you are welcome to pause the course and return to it when you feel ready. Support links are provided within the content.

Course Duration

The online learning and assessment is expected to take approximately 5 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the course in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and assessment questions.

This course is delivered fully online and will be self-paced. Students are expected to complete this course within six (6) months after enrolment.

Assessment Activities

Practical assessment: 

• Students are required to upload two (2) videos of themselves participating in simulated scenarios of a child/ young person at risk

Documentation:

• Complete two (2) Child Protection Concern/ Disclosure Record forms

Theory assessment:

• A written assessment consisting of case studies and multiple-choice questions

Please note:  You will be required to make two (2) videos of yourself, verbally explaining the required assessment outcome. If you do not wish to complete video assessment questions, please consider an alternative mode of delivery (E.g. Online with face-to-face assessment).
