This course fulfills the requirements for obtaining the NSW Food Authority Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Certificate. Commonly known as the Food Safety Supervisor (Levels 1 & 2 combined) course, it is tailored for individuals in the hospitality, transport, and distribution sectors, and also addresses food safety in children's services. The course offers a detailed exploration of the roles and responsibilities of a Food Safety Supervisor, covering the entire food safety process and the essential steps necessary for the safe handling of food. Participants must demonstrate their practical food safety skills and knowledge via a third-party observation form. Assessments can take place in any suitable food handling setting, such as commercial kitchens, catering lines, or food preparation areas with industry-standard facilities. Observations must be conducted at the participant's workplace or through volunteering at community centres, sports clubs, or local councils. Please note: Participants must be employed or have secured a volunteer position that provides a third-party observer, who will document the student’s practical performance using a third-party report form. IMPORTANT: You will be issued with a SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set and the NSW FSS certificate upon successful completion of this course. An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
Students must either be employed or secure a volunteer position at a workplace that will provide a third-party observer. This observer is responsible for witnessing and documenting the student's demonstrations using an Allens Training third-party report form.
Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment.
The online learning and assessment is expected to take approximately 6-7 hours. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the course in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and assessment questions.
This course is delivered fully online and will be self-paced. Students are expected to complete this course within six (6) months after enrolment.
